The Meaning of Life

Throughout human history there have been times when people have lit fires and flutes, whose light and music still guides us. The time, around 1150, is the magic of peaceful and fruitful sharing of part of Spain, Andalusia (Al-Andalus), by Jews, Muslims and Christians, and the person is Ibn Rushd, beacon known in Latin as Averroes. Philosopher, theologian, lawyer, translator, physician, astronomer, physicist, mathematician, an extraordinary person who made the integration between different cultures, religions and disciplines, one of the strengths of his thought. While Al-Andalus flourished in art, commerce, science and religion, Christian Europe was plunged into the darkness of reason, which would eventually lead to one of the more shameful human history: the Holy Inquisition. Extremism, as history teaches on time, did not lead to calamities and misfortunes, on the contrary, tolerance and openness have always improved pushing humanity towards God or towards the stars.
